Curriculum

We not only practice Karate as a mean of self defence but as a part of life also. As it helps building stamina, confidence, sharp memory and even improves flexes of the body. This is special Karate training program exclusively framed for the juvenile group of schools/dojos. This program has yielded very positive results from our children from various educational institutions. Successful karate students (karateka) are promoted to higher ranks after clearing their respective examinations. When karatekas earn their belts it gives them a great sense of accomplishment that really improves the way they feel about themselves.

According to international experts this Japanese Martial Art helps the young children to develop their concentration, self determination, confidence and mental maturation faster than other children. Psychologists observed that karatekas develops concentration, confidence and determination at a very high degree than their peers. A physically fit child is free from all sorts of juvenile medical problems like those of chest related diseases. The properly coordinated breathing and the karate exercises (which Japenese called Zen Meditation [yoga, in India]) help the child to lead an energetic life.

Kata (Form of fixed Movements)
Kata means forms and is a fight against imaginary enemies, it is a fixed sequence of moves. Characterised by deep, long stances to provide stability and powerful movements. Remembering and practicing Kata helps improving memory and building stamina and concentration. It is also the saying that if one keeps practicing kata(s) he need not to do any exercise. It will give release from any sort of tensions and stress. Thus it is also helps in living healthy way in life.

Kumite (Sparring)
Kumite means Sparring or fighting with opponent hand to hand. In our Indo-Ryu system every strikes and blockes are used to attack and defence, which other system / styles don’t prefer. In Championships categories are divided according to age and weight groups.

In sparring we have introduced Indo-Ryu system also in which every types of strikes with hands and foot is allowed and in both full contact and semi contact types. i.e. Uroken, Heito, Shito-chi, Tetsi-Uchi, Empi-Uchi, Jumping kicks, Sweeps etc. are allowed in championships.

Grading System
Grading examination was held from time to time as per the syllabus & training norms. Not only the time period but the knowledge of karateka is also important for the eligibility for the grading test.

Annual Training Camps
The association also organises annually Summer & Winter Training camps for the promotion of the Martial Art of Karate-Do. In such camps outside teams also take part and a joint training program was conducted during the camp. By this way exchange of knowledge takes place and the students can become self dependent and confident. They get more chance of learning as in such camps various other instructors also participates to give knowledge of this art.

Zen (Meditation)
It is believed that every one has capabilities and limitations. One must overcome one’s limitations and take advantage of them positively when one’s capabilities far outweigh the limitations, then life starts unfolding. This can be achieved by practicing Karate. To achieve this not only physical but mental gratitude is also important. Your mind should be free for this and for the ZEN is introduced in Karate. ZEN is a Japanese word which means Dhayan or meditation. By Zen one can free his mind and gin victory over himself. It is an old saying that “Your Biggest Enemy Lies With in Yourself, Not in The Outside World.”

We all suffer from fear, doubt, tnesion and worry. Some of these are the product of our past and some are the product of our imagined future. Zen believes in living in present, as only that is reality. To the left side of yours is space and to the right side of yours is space. You exist between the past and the future - that is present. Past bring sus guilt and regret, while future leaves us with expectations. Living in present frees the mind and body from all limitaions. It permits one to listen and respond with a greater degree of awareness.

Zen also forbids being attached to the ghings. No matter how one has mastered any special thing, if his mind becomes attached to the particular movement, he cannot win, it is of the great importance in Zen that the mind dose not become fixed either on opposition’s movements or one’s own movements. This frees the mind to think positively. When at the moment, If you do exactly in the moment, only then you will give it your fullest and have better results. This helps to overcome tensions, feare, doubts, worries and makes us self - confident. By practicing Zen one can attain ultimate happness and become satisfied.

Tameshiwari (Art of Breaking)
Tameshiwari is the Japanese name for the art of Breaking. Students are being trained in breaking of Tiles, Bricks, Marbel Slabs, Stone Slabs, Ice Slabs. The main purpose of Tameshiwari is to improve physical and will power, to improve concentration, to improve the focus of the technique, and to improve the confidence of the Karatekas

Karate-Do Indo-Ryu Association International

Indo - Ryu System introduced by Sensei R. P. Singh popularly known as “Sensei Singh”

Indo - Ryu literally means Indian School, thus Karate - Do Indo - Ryu means “Way of Bare Hands of Indian School”. In our school we not only teach the students but we build the characters. We traing the students not only for self defence but for the real time situation also.

Indo - Ryu system is concentrated on utilizing more out of what one has. i.e. making every part of the body as the means of weapon and shield.

We have also introduced our system in sparring in which every types of strikes with hands and foot is allowed and in both full contact and semi contact types. i.e. Uroken, Heito, Shito-chi, Tetsi-Uchi, Empi-Uchi, Jumping kicks, Sweeps etc. are allowed in championships.

We have introduced three forms of KUMITE ( Sparring )

  1. TE KUMITE : Hand Work Only - Arena of 3mtrs. x 3mtrs. (Round)
  2. ASHI KUMITE: Foot Work Only - Arena of 3mtrs. x 3mtrs. (Round)
  3. JU KUMITE : Free Sparring - Arena of 8mtrs. x 8mtrs.

By this we never mean that we are not familiar with the present full contact and semi contact types. We are not ignoring those styles but adding Indo - Ryu with it. Thus we conduct championships in which these systems of full contact and semi contact was followed and also the third system called Indo - Ryu is also conducted.

Our Association is not a Style based body hence we can affiliate any style of karate and any form of martial arts. Our affiliates will be given Licence / Certificate which authorises the holder for teaching the said martial arts and the permission of the conduct of Grading exams and Championship will also be given after fulfilling the terms.
